Satish Rai is the Chief Investment Officer at OMERS. His mandate includes the overall global investment strategy, portfolio construction activities, and P&L accountability across all asset classes and geographies where OMERS invests. Satish joined OMERS in January 2015, and immediately focused on delivering a strengthened approach to capital markets investing, with the ultimate goal of bolstering long-term value for members.
A 30-year veteran of the investment sector, Satish’s career includes extensive experience in active equity and fixed income portfolio management. Prior to joining OMERS, he served as Chief Investment Officer at TD Asset Management, overseeing $250 billion in assets under management. At TDAM, Satish also acted as Chair of the Committee of the Advancement of Visible Minorities in Leadership Roles and member of the Diversity Leadership Council. A steadfast believer that distinct perspectives bring strength to a workplace, Satish actively delivers on his commitment to diversity at OMERS through a differentiated approach to hiring, mentorship and investing.
Satish graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1986 with a Bachelor of Mathematics degree and received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1990. In 2002, Caldwell Partners recognized him as one of Canada’s Top 40 Industry Leaders Under 40, and in 2006 he received the Alumni Achievement Medal from the University of Waterloo, Faculty of Mathematics.
Satish is actively involved in the community, including through service on the Toronto Global Board and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization/World Presidents’ Organization. He is also a past member of the respective Boards of the University of Waterloo, Michael Garron Hospital Foundation (formerly Toronto East General Hospital Foundation) and Women in Capital Markets.
