Ascent Expands Global Footprint with Toronto Region Office Opening

Ascent, a New York City-headquartered SaaS company offering fintech products that have revolutionized the operations and quality standards of many leaders in the banking and finance industries, has announced the expansion of its headquarters into Toronto.

This marks the company’s entrance into the Canadian market and a strategic decision given the opportunity to leverage the Toronto Region’s talent pool and strong financial services sector.

“While we were exploring a North American expansion, we made the important decision to choose Toronto as our newest location,” said Kundan Shekhawat, President and CEO, Ascent.

Ascent is supported by Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC) to access the Start-Up Visa Program. Canada’s Start-up Visa Program offers Canadian permanent residence to immigrant entrepreneurs with the skills and potential to build innovative businesses in Canada, create jobs for Canadians and compete on a global scale.

Neha Bahl, CEO, TBDC, finds Ascent to have tremendous market opportunity. While the company expands in North America, TBDC is focused on providing support to them through a network of eminent advisors and investors. TBDC is also closely working on connecting Kundan and his team with potential customers that can leverage the innovative technology solutions developed by Ascent. Bahl says that applying for the Start-up Visa Program is a great opportunity for international start-ups to break into the North American market.

Throughout the company’s expansion, Ascent worked closely with Canada’s government departments, such as Toronto Global, a team of experienced business advisors assisting global businesses to expand into the Toronto Region, as well as with the Trade Commissioner Service in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ascent plans to establish its office in the Toronto Region as the company’s Sales and Delivery Centre to service clients in North America, with a long-term vision of growing its presence and team in Toronto. The region offers a large and diverse talent pool, with skill sets specialized in the convergence of financial services and technology.

“While we were exploring a North American expansion, a few parameters which helped us in this decision were the region’s availability of talent, cost of operations, the access to key markets and ease of conducting business here,” says Shekhawat.

Known for his dynamic leadership, Kundan Shekhawat has recently relocated from the United States to the Toronto Region to build the company’s new office, with a focus on enhancing competitiveness, profitability, customer focus, partnership, branding, corporate values and governance. He has wide experience in financial services and extensive expertise in product development engineering, strategy and management. With a career spanning 18+ years, his vision was the one that carried Ascent through its successive stages of growth.

We wish Ascent continued success and growth in its new Toronto location!
