Certain Affinity
Certain Affinity is the largest independent video game developer in Austin and has a proven track record of developing innovative, AAA action games, including original titles and the co-development of games in franchise like, ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Halo.’ The company established an office in Toronto as a fully integrated extension of its Austin office to support AAA development of its games.
Uber
Uber announced plans to invest more than $200-million in Toronto over five years as it opens an engineering office and expands its self-driving car centre. In 2017, the company also announced a new research hub to focus on developing AI for driverless vehicles, representing Uber’s first R&D operation outside of the United States.
CBS
U.S. entertainment company CBS Television Studios will open a television and film production hub just outside Toronto next year. The company says the hub will include six sound stages, production offices and other support facilities. CBS says the 260,000 square-foot facility will be located in Mississauga and is due to open in 2020.
GM
General Motors is in the process of rapidly expanding its R&D presence in Canada.
